Windows 7 is here!

Windows 7 is here… How does it fair?

Most businesses, including ourselves still run Windows XP Professional. We find Windows Vista slow to start-up, slow to shutdown and with numerous other problems. After three months of trying Vista on our network; we switched back to using XP.

It’s really funny now that some laptops are available with Windows 7 / XP Professional downgrade, which basically means that when you buy a new laptop you can have either Windows 7 or Windows XP Pro.

Is this Microsoft admitting Vista was a complete failure?

So what have Microsoft done to manage to get people to finally upgrade from XP to Windows 7?

Firstly, XP is now nearly a decade old, with limited support for hardware and software. Windows 7 has been designed with much more advanced networking capabilities, mobility, entertainment, data protection and compatibility features.

You also really do get the best of both worlds with XP mode. You get the compatibility of XP applications in Windows 7 which means we can no longer use the excuse that your applications won’t run on any new Operating System.

Microsoft also boasts faster start-up/shutdown times with 7, which was a real bug bearer for a lot of Vista users.

Have they succeeded? Well we have tried and tested the new software in our office and really like it.

We would also be confident in now rolling Windows 7 out to our clients.
